Due to Severe Weather, Non-Emergency Offices Closed Today,

Regularly Scheduled City Council Meeting Cancelled

All non-emergency City Hall Offices will be closed today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018) due to a winter storm developing over the region that is causing freezing rain/sleet and icy road/bridge conditions. City offices that are closed include:

  • City Hall, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
  • Inspections & Permits, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
  • Municipal Court, 3845 Cartwright Rd.
  • Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Rd.
  • Quail Valley Golf Course and City Centre, 2880 La Quinta Dr.
  • Animal Shelter, 1923 Scanlin Rd. (staff is on-call to care for animals housed in the facility)

In addition, today’s Regular City Council Meeting has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The next regularly scheduled meeting for Councilmembers will be held on Monday, Feb. 5.

WCA Waste Corp. officials notified the City that residents and businesses who participate in the Municipal Solid Waste Program will not receive service today as “it is unsafe to run residential and commercial routes.” Officials said customers will receive collection on their next scheduled service day.

To assure public safety, emergency management officials are closely monitoring local roadways, bridges and travel citywide. Public Works crews are currently applying a light coat of F-rock to some area bridges and will continue to monitor the structures throughout the day. Officials advise residents to avoid travel, if at all possible.

As forecasters predict that temperatures will continue to drop, residents are encouraged to protect the “Four P’s”: People, pets, pipes, and plants.

Residents who have questions about City services and programs should call 281.403.8500 and leave a voicemail message. Residents and businesses with questions about inspections and permits should call 281.403.8600 and leave a voicemail message. For emergencies, please call 911. Residents with questions about WCA services should call 281.403.5800.
