Gov. Abbott’s GA-34 Order Goes in Effect Today | City Offices to Open March 15

03/10/2021

Gov. Greg Abbott’s Executive Order (GA-34), rescinding the statewide mask mandate goes in effect today, March 10. All businesses, organizations and facilities are allowed to increase their capacity to 100 percent as well.

However, the order also allows businesses and facilities to establish their own COVID-19 protocols including mask mandates. As such, residents are encouraged to follow each entity’s requirements and procedures to fight the pandemic. To read full order, click here: https://bit.ly/30ItM2h.

The latest guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) for fully vaccinated individuals also encourage wearing masks in public. In accordance with the Gov. Abbott’s executive order, all City offices will reopen Monday, March 15 with special COVID-19 guidance, including mask requirement and social distancing protocols in all facilities.

“We want our employees and visitors to be safe and protected,” said City Manager Odis Jones. “As such masks will be required in all City facilities and we are taking extra precautions to fight the virus and continue to serve our community efficiently.”

Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George issued an order requiring masks in all County facilities as well. He is also encouraging all residents to wear masks while in public and when social distancing is not possible. To read full order, click this link: https://bit.ly/38qt1yW.

Local officials and medical experts are urging citizens to wear a mask. See what Marc L. Boom, M.D, President & CEO of Houston Methodist had to say at the latest #MCTX COVID-19 news conference here: https://youtu.be/O5Mh77aA6hk.
